Red Bull Racing has set its sights on breaking the dominance of Mercedes in Formula 1 as they gear up for the 2021 season.

The team, led by team principal Christian Horner and powered by Honda engines, has been a perennial contender in recent years but has struggled to match the sheer speed and consistency of Mercedes, who have won the constructors’ championship for the past seven seasons.

However, following their switch to Honda engines in 2019, Red Bull saw a significant improvement in performance, with Max Verstappen claiming two victories in 2020 and finishing third in the drivers’ championship behind Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas.

Now, with a strong driver lineup of Verstappen and newly-signed Sergio Perez, Red Bull is hoping to challenge Mercedes for top honors in 2021. The team has been working tirelessly over the winter to improve their car and close the gap to the dominant Mercedes outfit.

Horner has expressed confidence in the team’s chances, stating that they have made good progress during the off-season and have a good understanding of the new RB16B car. He believes that the combination of Verstappen’s raw talent and Perez’s experience will pose a strong challenge to the Mercedes drivers.

Mercedes, on the other hand, are not taking the threat from Red Bull lightly. Team principal Toto Wolff has acknowledged the potential of the Red Bull-Honda package and expects them to be strong contenders in the upcoming season.

With the 2021 season set to kick off in Bahrain in March, fans will be eagerly anticipating the battle between Red Bull and Mercedes for supremacy on the track. Will Red Bull be able to finally break the dominance of Mercedes and claim their first constructors’ championship since 2013? Only time will tell, but one thing is for sure – the competition is heating up in Formula 1.
