The highly-anticipated launch of the Aston Martin Cognizant F1 Team’s new car, the AMR21, took place recently, and it has certainly lived up to the hype. The unveiling of the new car marks Aston Martin’s return to Formula 1 after more than 60 years away from the sport.
The AMR21 was revealed in a virtual event that showcased the stunning design of the car, which features the iconic Aston Martin Racing green livery with flashes of pink from title sponsor Cognizant. The car also showcases the brand’s signature wing logo on the rear wing endplates.
Speaking at the launch, Team Principal and CEO, Otmar Szafnauer, expressed his excitement about the upcoming season and the potential of the new car. “To see Aston Martin back in Formula 1 after an absence of 60 years will be a landmark moment in the history of the sport,” Szafnauer said. “Everyone in the team is hugely motivated by the new challenge that Aston Martin’s involvement in Formula 1 brings. The launch of the AMR21 is a truly special moment for all of us.”
The AMR21 is powered by a Mercedes-AMG M12 E Performance power unit, ensuring that the car will have the performance and reliability needed to compete at the highest level in Formula 1. The team has high hopes for the upcoming season, with drivers Sebastian Vettel and Lance Stroll looking to make their mark on the grid.
Vettel, a four-time Formula 1 World Champion, has joined the team from Ferrari and is excited about the new challenge ahead. “I am really looking forward to racing for Aston Martin this season,” Vettel said. “The team has a lot of potential, and I believe we can achieve great things together.”
Stroll, who has been with the team since its days as Racing Point, is also optimistic about the upcoming season. “It’s great to see Aston Martin back in Formula 1, and I am proud to be a part of it,” Stroll said. “The AMR21 looks fantastic, and I can’t wait to get out on track and start pushing the car to its limits.”
The Aston Martin Cognizant F1 Team will make its official race debut at the Bahrain Grand Prix in March, where fans will get their first look at the AMR21 in action. With a strong team and a competitive car, there is no doubt that Aston Martin will be a force to be reckoned with in the 2021 Formula 1 season.
